Our home was on the Newton Historic Registry as the best example of an 1860’s Mansard Cottage. When my father passed, I needed to build an addition for my aging mother. In 2010, we received the Newton Historic Preservation award for the 2 story “tempieto” like addition. The zinc coated metal roof blends with the slate shingles to provides design unity and the over scaled patio serves to re-organize the landscape of the back yard.
